Who Am I?
I use this title because it is what I am about to describe but more importantly because it is a joke between Sara and I.
My name is Michael Little. I was born in 1976 in Toronto where I have spent most of my life. I have a wonderful family. I am very lucky.
I am an artist by instinct. I also do other things.
My hand is, for better or worse, what makes my art mine. My eye is relatively more capable.
In art, rules are great for making and breaking expectations and I do that.
My representative work expresses emotion through gesture and color anchored by relatively conventional composition. My abstract work tends to consist of fitting puzzle pieces together into sculptures because it is a most exquisite challenge and reward. Some of these sculptures become planters because I love plants and they need homes.
